The acronym NIMBY stands for "not in my backyard." Because the warehouse manager works in the office, he or she may focus productivity improvement on the warehouse floor, neglecting the opportunities that exist just outside the corner office. Yet some of the worst productivity abuses happen in offices rather than factories or warehouses.
Several years ago, our work in litigation support revealed a warehouse office in which the managers were spending a significant amount of time looking at pornographic websites.
