One distribution center has signs posted at the head of every storage aisle. On each sign is the name of the worker who is responsible for housekeeping in that aisle. Similar accountability measures are in place for order picking productivity, based on lines per worker, per day.
When something is out of order, there is always one individual who is accountable. Not surprisingly, both housekeeping and productivity are well above average in this operation.
