Overcoming Failure
August 2015
|
Framed in my office is a statement about the life of an American politician. It lists the failures that this man suffered:
- He failed in business in ’32.
- He failed to win a race for state legislature in the same year.
- He again failed in business in ’33.
- He lost his sweetheart to illness in ’34.
- He suffered a nervous breakdown in ’36.
- He lost a race for Congress in ’43.
- And again in ’48.
- He was defeated in a campaign for the U.S. Senate in ’55.
- He lost the campaign for Vice President of the US in ’56.
- He ran again for Senate in ’58 and lost.
And finally, in 1860, Abe Lincoln was elected president. |
