Two large grocery chains installed voice recognition software.
The first assumed that the system must be bilingual, with the Hispanic speakers using Spanish software.
The second chain did some research before making a decision. They learned that there are more syllables in the Spanish language than English, and more syllables create more opportunities for error. Then they took a poll of the workers and discovered that the vast majority did not want Spanish software. They had emigrated to America with a desire to learn English, and the Spanish software seem to be an insult.
Warehouse companies operating in America are making a mistake if they try to be bilingual. English should be the only language used in warehouses that operate in the US.
