We all take risks. It is risky to get out of bed every morning and even more risky to climb into your car and drive to work.
Warehouse managers have a special problem with risk because most of them are responsible for protecting property that they do not own. Consider the risky decisions that you will make before today is over, or before the end of this month. Then consider these three questions about risk:
- If we take the risk and are successful, will the result be constructive? Will it serve a useful purpose? If the answer is no, stop considering that risk now.
- What are the odds of success? If the odds are against you, is taking the risk really worthwhile?
- What are the consequences of failure? If the penalty for failure is acceptable, the decision to take the risk becomes easier.
