Most managers assume that robotic applications are expensive, risky, and have a long payback time. This is no longer true.
At least one system has an expected payback between 1 and 1.5 years.
More than one system can demonstrate tangible ability to increase productivity. For example, the robotic system may be four times as fast in putting away inbound product as the manual system that it replaced.
In order picking, it may be three times as fast.
Given the rapid payback and the promise of benefits, it seems likely that a growing number of warehouse operators will install robotic equipment, at least on a pilot basis
