The trade press has given ample attention to several new multi-floor industrial buildings under construction in or near New York.
We have seen new warehouses overseas that employ circular ramps to allow delivery trucks to drive to the proper level. Surprisingly, there is little information about vertical conveyors which can move unitized cargo any floor.
Because these devices do not carry passengers, they are not subject to the same safety and inspection regulation. Furthermore, they can often be retrofitted to an existing building. Vertical conveyors might convert multi-floor warehousing from fad to megatrend.
